The Malaysian general elections is looming in the months to come and Malaysians alike are wondering whether Barisan Nasional can capture the 5 states lost in the 2008 elections. If you are anti-government and support the opposition then you shall be wondering no more.
It truly has been a while since my last posting here on zarique.com. Perhaps I lack the inspiration of writing due to my illness in 2010. Truth be told I am all fired up to begin the year 2012. I use to think that being a westerner living in europe was the best thing to ever happen to myself. However with regret I have learned my true values of being Malaysian is far greater.
American politics used to be the subject of conversation in 2009 but now having lived in Malaysia since February 2010 has opened up my eyes towards Malaysian politics. Where does Barisan Nasional look ahead for 2012?
Perhaps, the answer lies with our dear Prime Minister. Through BR1M and KR1M, Malaysians in the low income group have to benefit from government policies that have always been intended to help the needy. However, who fights and champions the Malay cause today? Where will the future of Malays be in 20 years time? Are we to prosper or decline?
I ask these questions because the Malay community have been extremely complacent. Unity is in the air and we need to forget how other parties are dividing us and ruling the Malays from within. To divide rule and conquer the Malay mindset is their agenda. We have to fight this from the foreground and champion the Malay agenda.
Certainly, the New Economic Policy of the 1970's have helped us thus so far to obtain education and job oppurtunities. However the NEP has failed to give Malays the leading edge in today's economy. What I mean by leading edge is the ability to lead and to think for oneself in order to strive for success. There are certain quarters who want to see the NEP abolished. Where will the future of the Malays be if our very heritage is taken away from us?
There is no point for us Malays to disintegrate and support other parties that do not champion the Malay cause because it will leave us in dissaray. It will leave the Malays in last position with no privilleges to back our complacency. We must protect our national heritage which is the Malay Rights. thus we can only do this if we support Barisan Nasional as they have been the only party sincerely championing the Malay cause since pre-independence.
